Romantic & Manly Gifts

The Husband and I don’t really get into Valentine’s Day, so we don’t celebrate it unless you count snatching some discounted candy on February 15th. However, we do have our 1st date anniversary at the end of February where we at least go out for a nice dinner, and that’s our little romantic winter holiday.

(And yes, I usually call him ‘husband’ and he calls me ‘wife’… we’re weird like that.)

We’re more into experiences than accumulating stuff so when I do give my husband gifts, I like to give thoughtful, yummy or mostly practical yet super fun presents. So, I thought I’d share a few unique favorites in case you’re looking for some ideas for your manly man this Valentine’s Day or for any other holiday.

Moonshine Cologne~ This cologne from EastWest Bottlers smells delicious. You won’t be able to resist cozying up to your man when he smells this good. It’s woodsy and spicy with a hint of patchouli. They also sell a soap and an after shave balm. We’re hoping for a body wash in the future. Oh, and for the ladies, there’s a Speakeasy perfume. I recently acquired a sample, and I like to describe it as a light and sexy musky scent…. definitely not too flowery which I love. (Cologne – $76; Soap – $13: After Shave Balm – $40)

Izola Flask~ I gave the hubs the ‘Put Some Hair On Your Chest’ flask for Christmas 2012. He loves it! It’s stylish and has never leaked… score! They have a lot of fun and great designs. (Flask – $27)

Salt Farm Gourmet Sea Salt~ Yep, sea salt. If that manly dude in your life is anything like mine, he loves salt. I purchased a sampler… it’s fun to try the unique flavor combinations. There are so many that are delicious for seasoning and cooking. We’ll definitely be ordering our favorites again soon! (Sea salt – $10 to $32)

Wondermade Marshmallows~ I gave the bourbon marshmallows to my whiskey-lovin’ husband this past Christmas. I’m not a huge fan of marshmallows myself, but these marshmallows are not your store-bought marshmallows. They’re so damn fluffy and delicious. After a couple weeks, they even became more bourbon-y which was awesome. We’ll still need to try some other flavors like Guinness, and their Valentine’s gift set sounds yummy. (Marshmallows – $7.95 to $40)

Tovolo Sphere Ice Molds~ Have a whiskey drinker in your life? Mine has tried whiskey stones, but they don’t stay cold for long and little ice cubes melt real fast and dilute the whiskey too quickly. So, a huge ball of ice comes to the rescue for fancy cocktails or for when he wants his whiskey on the rocks. (Ice Molds – $10.95)

Mason Shaker~ Speaking of cocktails, I love this mason jar cocktail shaker. We don’t personally have one… yet. I think I may want one more than the husband, but I also think it would be a nice addition to any kitchen, especially a manly man’s kitchen. (Mason Shaker – $27.98)

Argyle Socks~ For some reason, I’m a fan of argyle. I stuffed a pair in my husband’s stocking one Christmas. I think he thought it was weird at first. But, when he saw all of his manly goodies together (see image above), he realized all of his gifts just looked good together. Presentation is important here, ladies. While I acquired his socks at Target, I recently came across The Joy Of Socks men’s socks, and I’m loving the variety. Argyle Mustached Socks? Totally manly. (Argyle socks – price varies)

Wild Rose Herbs Wild Man Grooming~ There’s nothing sexier than a man with a beard, right? Well, at least I think so, and most ladies I know also agree with me. This past Christmas, I gifted the hubs a beard wash and conditioner gift set. I went with the Raven scent which is a very spicy and earthy scent and smells so good. The products are all handmade in southern Oregon, and they have products for the shaven man too! (Wild Man Grooming – $9.95 to $64.99)

KeyTool Keyring Multi-tool~ This is a tiny, low profile multi-tool that sort of hides out on your key ring by surrounding a key. I got this on a whim, and I wasn’t sure the husband would like it. But apparently, he uses it quite a bit! Every man (and ladies!) should have a multi-tool on hand or a pocket knife. Hmmm… I may have to get one for myself. (Keytool Multi-tool – $7.99)

Ice Cream~ Who doesn’t love ice cream!? With all the gourmet shops popping up in various cities, I’m sure you can find something a man’s man would enjoy. In central Ohio, there is the very famous Jeni’s ice cream and I have yet to find a man who doesn’t love the Salty Caramel, the Buckeye State (salty peanut butter ice cream with chocolate bits) and the Yazoo Sue With Rosemary Bar Nuts (made with cherry-wood smoked porter beer & lots & lots of nuts). They’re always expanding, but no worries if you don’t have a shop near you… they ship to all of the U.S.! (Jeni’s ice cream – $12 per pint)

Happy Romancin’!
